National Rural Drinking Water Programme WSSO U.P.

This report is intended to bring the light on the impacts of the Sarvajanik Shikhonayan Sansthan initiative “Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Campaign” started with the support of Water and Sanitation Support Organization (WSSO) Uttar Pradesh (UP) in different Districts of Uttar Pradesh. The purpose is to generate awareness about safe drinking water “health and hygiene conditions” and water testing methods among the villagers. Field water testing kit is used for making peoples aware of the risk of contamination of water sources.

This report shows that how Sarvajanik Shikhonayan Sansthan team have successfully conducted orientation, fair (Mela), street play, film or video show, social mapping, and water testing by visiting their respective villages.
Different water testing methods were demonstrated practically by the team of Sarvajanik Shikhonayan Sansthan. Some treatment methods were also suggested to remove chemical composition from water and knowledge about hazardous diseases. SSS is continue working science FY- 2015-16 with Water and Sanitation Mission, U.P for IEC/BCC activities and completed successfully package of activities in eleven Districts Sahjanpur, Hamirpur, Auraiya, Ghaziabad, Mahoba, Jhanshi, Kashganj, Firozabad, Kaushambi, Rampur, Sambhal 5763 Gram Panchayats and reached approximate 22,68,800 peoples in highly JE/AES affected areas, by these activities we helped community to access safe drinking water and improved health, nutrition and sanitation status In this report, a survey questionnaire is used for taking responses from the villagers as provided by the WSSO, UP. The current conditions of the village water sources and sanitation infrastructure is also interpreted for achieving the objectives of the campaign. Data has been collected and analyzed to show the effectiveness of this campaign.
This report has an impact analysis to bring out the positive and negative impacts of the campaign. Some suggestive indicators for the sustainability of the campaign are also provided.
